Costs to Race

OK, we get it!

Most people think that owning a share in a racehorse is going to break the bank - well with SRS we make our shares affordable for everyday families to get involved.

How it works is there is an upfront initial cost to buy into the horse this cost includes the horse’s purchase price, race series entry fee, transport from the sales, syndicators margin, selling costs, the horse being broken in, standard vet fees, insurance and agistment. This is a once off payment. This cost varies from horse to horse.

Then there are on-going fees which are paid for on a quarterly basis at SRS and it works like this.

  • A bank account is created for each horse and all accounts are paid by SRS which makes everything easier to manage and streamlined

  • On going fee are requested from owners typically quarterly (approximately $600-800 for 5% shareholders) to replenish funds in the horse’s account

  • We are all about transparency SRS and owners are welcome to view invoices and the account summary whenever they wish to

  • Because the cost of owning a horse can differ depending on which stage of their racing preparation they are in the quarterly payment can vary accordingly

  • All money in the bank account is divided up between owners when the horse finishes racing

Syndication Management Fee

Our Syndication Management Fee allows us to provide the wonderful service of racehorse ownership. We pride ourselves on providing regular updates and we manage all the expenses pertaining to the horse which we ask for a small fee per owner to make all of the backend things happen smoothly.

Unexpected Costs

Like everything in life there is no crystal ball, unexpected costs usually related to injury or illness of a horse will pop up from time to time and these cannot be predicted (which kinda sucks!)
